Home Brewing 101 (Video in description)
Craft beer is becoming extremely popular not only in the United States, but around the world. Due to the passion for the creativity, taste, and the overall process of creating craft beer, many people have taken their fascination with it and turned it into both hobbies and professions. While more and more people continue in their own pursuit of mastering the process and putting their own touch on their beer, the basics still apply. For those of you interested in having your own home brewing experience, the following steps will show the general approach in starting and making your very own craft beer, although we advise you to do your own research before doing so (Instructions provided are credited to "Homebrew Exchange- Youtube Channel).
Before starting, you want to make sure you have all of your ingredients to create your IPA, specifically malt, hops, yeast, dry malt extract, liquid malt extract, and specialty grains.
First , you are going to want to fill a pot with 3 quarts of water and heat it to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Then fill your grain bag with the specialty grains you selected. After doing so, you are going to want to submerse these grains into the pot once it hits 165 degrees for 45 minutes. While in the process of doing that, go ahead and heat another 3 quarts of water to 170 degrees in order to rinse the sugar out of the grains. The next step is to wait for it to boil then turn off the heat to add the malt extracts- be sure to mix both extremely well while adding it. After the extract is dissolved, turn the heat back on and add hops by placing them into a bag a putting them into the pot towards the end for taste. Once the 60 minute boil process is over wait for the pot to cool to about 70-80 degrees and then pour into the fermentation bucket. Once in to bucket take an original gravity reading to measure sugar content. Continue by adding yeast and stiring well. After that is done, place wtaer in air-lcok on bucket lid allowing CO2 to escape- be sure to sanitize lid as well. Then wait for 7 days to allow for fermentiation.
